Perfect Day for the Zoo!

It's Feb. 13th. The sun is shining. The temps are in the upper 40s. This definitely calls for an outing to the zoo!

Aunt Marion took a break from work to meet us at the zoo...

we both took turns riding the carousel with Kayli...

the ride was actually quite relaxing, just what I needed!

we waddled off to the Penguin Plaza, where we just couldn't get enough of these cute little penguins...

then, we headed toward Africa. Along the way I just had to stop now and then to snap photos of "serenity" scenes like this...

as we turned the corner, we heard some russelling noises coming from the bushes, and I snapped a quick photo, then, alerted Kayli to the animal hiding just a few yards from us! I spotted the nearly invisible fence between us, but Kayli clearly did not as she cautiously asked "Uh, Mom, is there some reason why there is NO fence between us and this wild animal?"

then, we came across this gal...

the lion's were pretty funny! We didn't see the "King of the Jungle" but we heard him roaring!

this elephant exhibit had some interesting fun facts (and/or funny!)

we walked and walked, while savoring this spontaneous escape from our crazy, busy lives! The blue skies, and beautiful sun just smiled down upon us, ahh....

on our way out, we walked through the reptile house. Time to say good-bye...See you later alligator!!! Hahaha!
