Trick or Treat!

The BIG day finally arrived! Kayli has been counting down the minutes to this one! She just can't stop thinking about ALL THAT CANDY!!!
It all began at school with the all-school parade followed by classroom parties...
then, it was time to go home and do some Trick or Treating...
we made the rounds through our neighborhood, then headed home so we could spend some time giving out candy, something Kayli LOVES to do! She pulled her rocking chair to the front door next to the candy, pulled up PBS Kids on my IPAD, and just hung out there for about an hour, giving out lots of candy!
Sprinkles watched the whole thing from the steps...

Carving Pumpkins at School

In 2nd grade, at Kayli's school, there is a special night called "Principal's Pumpkin Carving Night" where all the 2nd graders get to bring a pumpkin and a parent up to school, and everyone carves pumpkins together! I bought a great little battery-operated carving tool that worked like magic!!!

the 2nd grade teachers were handing out yummy cookies! Kayli came back to tell me she would be happy to get me a cookie, and she said "Your choices are chocolate chip cookie, chocolate cookie, or a smackerdoodle!" Laughed Out Loud! What else could I do but choose the "smackerdoodle!" Haha.
the kids also put on a little performance by singing "pumpkin carols" for us. It was very cute...

Boo at the Zoo

This is one of my all-time FAVORITE Halloween outings...Boo at the Zoo! The kids dress in their halloween costumes and get to spend the day at the zoo, where they have all kinds of special activities including "trick-or-treating" throughout the zoo! It started out to be a bit on the chilly side this year, but we forged ahead, and eventually the clouds moved on and the sun came out. We invited Linsey, Lily, and Graeme to come along and take full advantage of my zoo pass, which includes free tram, train, and carousel rides! Kayli was dressed as a cotton candy princess...
Graeme gets so excited, he starts chanting "oo,oo,oo,oo!"
we should have had hot chocolate for lunch, brrr!
oh well, onward we go...
Woohoo, a camel ride!
the girls had a great time dancing to the music...
the polar bear was quite entertaining!
One more time on the carousel before leaving, what a great day!
