A New White Wicker Rocker

I recently decided it would be a good idea to get a big rocker for Kayli’s bedroom. I originally had decided against this because I thought there were plenty of rocking chairs in the house to rock her at night. For many reasons that has not turned out to be the most convenient or logical. So, I waited for the Spring line of wicker furniture to come out and snatched up a white wicker rocker that looks fabulous in Kayli’s room. It is a nice big size that the two of us can settle in for “book reading, singing, and rocking” every night. After stories, I turn out the lights, we say/sing our prayers, then it’s time to settle down and relax for sleep. Kayli loves our time in the rocker, however, the first few nights, as we rocked in the dark, she apparently didn’t get the point of the rocker as she’d say “Faster, Mama, Faster!” as if the rocker was a Worlds of Fun Ride! I now find her climbing into this chair to rock her dolls and sing and other things, like seeing if her sippy cup will stay upright while she rocks it, etc. etc. I can already envision my future teenager sitting in this chair with her phone and her laptop as she’s trying to balance a pop somehow while multitasking in this not-quite-big-enough-wicker rocker!
For now, enjoy the sweet rendition of “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” while hanging out in the new wicker rocker.

Dr. Jekyl & Mr. Hyde

Oh yes, the transformation is fast and furious! It happened this weekend, my sweet Kayli Rose transformed into my very own Dr Jekyl/Mr. Hyde. And yes, this is solid evidence that the “Threes” have officially arrived! We go from “Yeah, Shooer, Mama” “Thank-you Mama” “I Love You Mama” to ‘I want this, no I want that, no I don’t want it like that, I want it like this, now I don’t want it at all, now I’m so confused I’m just going to cry’, “Waaaaaaa!”

Oh, Lord, give me strength, and strengthen my sense of humor, which I think is the only way to cope with the irrationality of this tiny three year old who 5 minutes from now will be “sweet talking” and “joking” her way back into my “good graces”. I’ll forget all about the melt-downs of today, until … the next “surprise attack” and then… Life goes on.

Who Doesn't Love an Easter Hat?

What would Easter be without a new "Easter Bonnet"? AND, a pretty dress with new white tights, and shiny pink patent leather shoes? Just add a couple of marshmallow chicks and Mom behind the camera and you've got a party! Woohoo!
Kayli also thoroughly enjoyed singing and dancing at church, even though she was really the only one dancing. She heartily joined in on the Alleluiahs and other words spoken by the priest that she seemed to find amusing. "Whaaat, Jeeesus risen?" "Otaaay"
We had a nice family gathering for the day, complete with another Easter egg hunt on a big long porch while the light snowflakes fell outside. Kayli ate lots of candy and ran wild with her cousin. Naptime was accomplished by buckling Miss Kayli into her carseat and taking a drive. She was out "cold" in 5 minutes. Later that evening as we drove home and I was audibly yawning, she said "Tired mama?" I said "Yes, it's been a long day." She said "Well, you sleep car, like Tayli, otay?" Yes, my darling, that would be nice.

Last Year This Year...

The Easter Egg Hunt. Last year, this year. Common theme: Brrr! Cold. Differences: 1) The direction of the wind/notice my hair, the reversible cowlick. 2) My baby is growing fast! Oh, how time has flown!

It's the Easter Egg Coloring GAME!

Ohhh, this was way more fun than one can imagine! Every little part of this "game" just got more and more exciting. The colors, the fizzing tablets, the egg dropping, the "splash" (oh, that was sooo funny!) and picking up the eggs with a "rabbit tongs" (that was the topper!) Kayli laughed and squealed with delight. Then, oh-oh, one of the eggs rolled off the table and bounced off the chair and "crack". There was a unified "Oh,no" then, "Oh, well", and I moved onto the next stage to show Kayli how to eat a hard boiled egg. (No, I haven't introduced her to these yet, as I do not make these for myself) Well, I guess I'll be making these in the future as I watched Kayli gobble hers up, then with a wide grin, rub her tummy and proclaim "Mama, Tayli love eggs!"

Two Holidays at Once!

Happy St. Paddy's Day and Happy Easter! There is so much to do, and this year with Easter and St.Patrick's Day being practically on top of each other, it all has to happen in one week or weekend: Easter Egg Hunts, Pictures with a Giant Bunny, Coloring eggs, St. Paddy's Day Parades, Dressing in green, Looking for Leprechauns. Kayli doesn't know what's happening next, but the important part in her mind, is the CANDY involved! She had her first introduction to bubble gum yesterday. They were throwing it out at the parade. She looked at me like I was crazy when I told her you just chew on it for a while, then you spit it in the trash. She did great with the gum, and after trying two pieces, chewing on them for a while, then telling me it was time to spit them out, she proceeded to follow suit with a tootsie roll. She chewed for a while, then decided it had served it's purpose, and it was time to spit it out. Hmm, now there's a calorie saving idea. It was VERY COLD at the parade, but that didn't stop us. We decided that as long as we weren't sitting in snow, we were ok. Unfortunately, the snow that fell the day before, caused the Easter egg hunt to be cancelled. Darn. So, on to the next event...

Soooo Funny!

Sooo funny!

Kayli has recently started doing something very funny when she thinks I’ve said
something goofy or she thinks she said something comical. She will put both hands on her chest, and bob her head up and down and laugh like the cartoon characters do when they laugh! It is sooo funny to watch, and I managed to catch a brief video clip of her doing this. Check it out below:

My Little Cookie turns 3!

Where has the time gone? My Kayli RoseMeili has turned 3! We celebrated and celebrated. Kayli learned to sing the "Happy Birthday" song, and she just beamed when everyone in the family sang to her. She was "over the top" excited about blowing out her candle. She had a #3 candle, while her cousin, Jake had a #9 candle. The family celebrated both birthdays together. Kayli and I went out to Applebees on Feb.27, her actual birthday. I thought they would have balloons and singing, but neither of those things were present at this Applebees. Kayli enjoyed herself anyway, because she got a great ice-cream dessert!
I decided that it would be fun to add blogging to my sharing of photos and videos. I will try to add regular postings of quirky and fun things about Kayli's life as a 3-yr.old. I figure it will be fun for all of you to read, and fun for Kayli and I to read later in her life. So, ENJOY!
