Happy 4th of July!

We started off the day with some "All American Piggies"...
then, everybody got bows...
and posed for some pictures...(the look on Sprinkles' face just cracks me up!)
Sprinkles: "Seriously? It's a good thing I love this child enough to humor her with this bow!"
she is such a "good sport" especially when she is bribed with doggy treats...

now, as we headed out to a local festival, Sprinkles was happy to be done with her "modeling job" for the day!
We drove across town to check out a neighborhood festival that Linsey had told us about. A lot of people were having a lot of fun at this annual event!
We started by standing in the face-painting line, which was veeeery long but Kayli would never pass up this opportunity! Since this line was close to the inflatable obstacle course line, I sent her over there to take a turn while I kept our place in this line.
the sun was hot today but after about 15 minutes in line, we had made our way up to the shaded tree area, ahhh, love those beautiful trees!
we stood in line, watching the clowns make balloons...
kids were racing in human hamster balls (this line was as long as our line!)
the 45 minute wait in line, with all the added entertainment, didn't seem as long as it was, and according to Kayli, "was totally worth it!"
we found the craft station...another "jackpot!"
my little statue of liberty...
we missed out on the cherry/apple pie they were selling, so opted instead for a cool treat...
that just happened to match Kayli's outfit, ha ha!
there was plenty of time after the festival to re-group and re-pack for a late afternoon swim at Aunt Marion's, followed by an evening of family and firecrackers!
Also, once it was dark out, Kayli pulled out her "magic" glowing edible bugs to entertain everyone...
(we had tried them out the night before, just to see how they worked!)
what a fun gimmick this was!
great glowing gummies!
we'll definitely have to bring some of these to the lake to entertain the cousins!
Happy 4th of July!!!

That looks like so much fun! Maybe next year we will stick around town to finally join in on the festivities! Now I need to get blogging! I'm sooo behind!
